Taal Volcano is unique for its stunning caldera, a vast basin formed by ancient eruptions, now filled by the serene waters of Taal Lake. This creates a breathtaking "lake within a volcano" landscape.

The lake itself teems with life, supporting a rich ecosystem including endemic species found nowhere else in the world. These include the tawilis, a freshwater sardine, and the rare Hydrophis semperi, a sea snake adapted to freshwater.

The beauty and bounty of the lake provide sustenance and livelihood for surrounding communities, with fishing playing a vital role in the local economy.
